Folks,
My employer is finally disposing of a large number of heavy-duty
servers. Their power supplies are capable of in excess of 26 amps on
the +12v rail, and the conversion for use as a battery charger power
supply is trivial. You just short one green wire to ground and attach
a pair of banana jacks to the 12v rail.
I use one of these at home, and a number of clubbies have others. We
are disposing of around 30 of these, and I have permission to salvage
the PSUs. I am aware Doug wants one... How many should I bring to the
next club meeting?
Regards,
Matt Barnson

OK, so far I count eight people who want one. I'll probably have to
grab a few extras so that I can do a demo of "how to mod a PC power
supply into a 12v power source for your battery chargers in less than
15 minutes".
I know I *can* do it that fast, but I have yet TO do it that fast!

Dear Matt-
This sounds far to good to pass up.
A 26 A 12 volt DC power supply usually costs around $100!!
If possible, count me in.

Unfortunately, I'm in the midst of working a 14-hour-day for work
today (Saturday)!
I won't be picking any of the PSUs up until Monday; I rode my
motorcycle into work on Friday after I posted this, and I can't carry
very many on the bike :)

Matt, guys
I have about a dozen pairs of the red and black banana jack/binding posts
that you are going to want to use on the supplies.
I'll bring them to the next meeting.
